make sure they are comfortable...
swapping grips isn't exactly a big deal... make sure you install them properly? |

It will take at least 7-10 hours for the glue to set. Make sure you have the time before fixing them....I had to leave my bike in the shop all day...........

The left grip is glued on.I've never had any luck getting them off without just cutting it off.Glue the left grip back on.The throttle side is a dual cable. You'll need to slack off the adjusters to change the grip.Take note of the slack in the cables as you don't want to get them too tight when you re-adjust them.Too tight and you run the risk of breaking a cable or not getting the proper idle because the cable is holding the throttle open. You'll need torx bits to loosen the screws holding the housing. Also make sure the switch housing is tight against the brake lever or your brake light will stay on.It's really a simple job, just take note of how it goes back together.
They have glue made for bike grips.Clean the handlebar with alcohol. When you slide the grip on get it where you want it before the glue takes hold. Some people use gorilla glue but i've never tried it so i'm not gonna say if it's good or not.I'm talking about rubber grips.Never done a set of all metal ones so i don't know about fitting them. |

the manufacture has some kind of guidelines. if not, ask Harley what they use.
you do have to use something.......and theres no salvaging. if done right youll have to cut them off next time........ |

I just put grips on my Ultra and it's a piece of cake,, pull the others off (sometimes this can be difficult but with some twisting it can be done) and maybe use a little soapy water to help slide the others on and once they dry they stick like glue.. I have never used glue on grips, my new grips are metal could you imagine gluing them on???? they never would come off.
not saying they don't make glue for this just saying I have never on any bike I've owned had to use glue to hold the grip tight. |

to Ez On the left use a heat gun to heat up that hand grip try not to burn or melt it. that should loosen up the old glue. then work it slowly off. you can use the glue that came in the kit or Gorilla glue works well the rest is just like Andy F said "The throttle side is a dual cable. Also make sure the switch housing is tight against the brake lever or your brake light will stay on.It's really a simple job, just take note of how it goes back together."

you will have to undo the adjustment for the throttle cables first. then undo you switch housings and undo the throttle cables from the grips. Dont loose the brass ferrules as they are easy to loose. Remove the throttle grip and install the new one. When installing the cables onto the new grip it is easier to start with the front first. I pull up on the cable to get enough slack and install the ferrule on to the cable and then to the grip. then install the idle cable and if it done this was the idle cable should be eazy to install. Afther that is done you will need to put the switch housings back together. Get both of the bolts started and then * while holding the front brake lever in tighten the bolt closest to the rider and then the bolt on the front. You need to hold the brake lever in so that you do not break the plastic brake lamp switch. the left side grip may need to be cut off with a razor blade. the new grip will go on easily if you sand off the end of the bar a little. you will need to use grip glue on the left grip only. good luck

Beat , bang , cut, pull rip and tear till u get the left one off . The right ones pretty simple , take clamp off unhook throttle cables. It goes the way u took it off. The left side takes a little glue. Twist and push at the same time, do it quick and hard. Sounds sexual, doesn't it ?
